Welcome!

I am a university lecturer and an independent consultant. My vision is to bridge theory and practice through research, teaching, consulting, and to share my reflections and insights with the wider community. Thanks for visiting my website.

I am an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Innovation and Engineering Management at the University of Bath School of Management, part of the division of Information, Decisions and Operations (IDO). I am also a PhD researcher at the University of Bath School of Management. I have a particular interest in innovation management and the use of emerging, disruptive, and digital technologies, where I am engaged in research, teaching, and consulting. I hold a BEng in Electronics and Communications Engineering, an MSc in Digital Communications, and an MSc in Innovation and Technology Management, all from the University of Bath. During this period, I have also received the student of the year award, academic representative of the year award, academic representative outstanding contribution award, and the MSc Dean’s award for citizenship in 2014.

My current research focuses on ambidexterity, the designation given to those organisations that are equally adept at ‘exploiting’ current abilities while simultaneously ‘exploring’ fundamentally new competencies. Ambidexterity has become a foundational concept in a large body of literature across various managerial disciplines. However, the perceptions of time, temporality, and tempo are often implicit or omitted in the ambidexterity literature, and when explicit, they are often under-developed. Therefore, I aim to unpack and foreground these perceptions in my research. My research presents a 17-year longitudinal case study of an innovative experiential design company specialising in creating immersive and mixed reality technologies. The case study organisation uses audio, visual, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other emerging technologies to deliver world-class projects and solutions to clients in theme park attractions, automotive, retail, construction, and other sectors.

I have over seven years of experience in higher education teaching and related activities, starting at the University of York before returning to the University of Bath in 2019. I am currently a member of the Centre for Qualitative Research at the Univeristy of Bath and previously at the Institution for Engineering and Technology (IET). Outside academia, I have gained some insightful experience in various sectors, including food and beverage at Costa Coffee and Co-op Food, oil services at Schlumberger, and York Community Consulting (YCC) management consulting. My most recent experience was Innovation Consultant and Analyst at Strategic Innovation Ltd. The latest project supported by the Industrial Innovation Centre in the Sultanate of Oman to shape the future of the Food and Beverage sector toward a more sustainable future aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040.

I am currently a director at Digital Émigré. Digital Émigré is a European Union (EU)-focused citizenship consultancy and information hub. My role is to handle operations for Digital Émigré and an advisory role by sharing insights and giving recommendations on exploring future opportunities and evolving the business model.
